the ethylene oxide method is obtained by ammoniation of dimethylamine with ethylene oxide, distillation, rectification, and dehydration.The chloroethanol method is obtained by saponifying chloroethanol with alkali to generate ethylene oxide, and then synthesizing with dimethylamine.

can be used to synthesize local anesthetics, antihistamines, antispasmodics and antihypertensive drugs.
