Synthesis:
N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine is typically prepared by the reaction of 1,3-dibromopropane with methylamine under alkaline conditions. The general procedure involves adding 1,3-dibromopropane and methylamine to a suitable solvent, followed by the addition of a base such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The mixture is stirred and the temperature is controlled, and the reaction product precipitates out. The N,N-Dimethyl-1,3-propane diamine can be purified by crystallization or distillation.
